The Yamaha Music Education System (YMES) and Your Child

Yamaha offers unique, comprehensive music education programs. The three fundamental principles of Yamaha’s teaching philosophy are:

Music education should be timely. The style and level of instruction should be tailored to both the ability and development of the students.
A group is the best place for young children to learn music. Children enjoy learning together. Their interaction with parents and the teacher in a group lesson creates a joyful, positive atmosphere that motivates them.
The keyboard is an outstanding tool for music education. In YMES courses, the keyboard is used to confirm the development of students’ ability to grasp the music as a whole, including its expressive subtleties. The use of a keyboard is combined with solfege singing, resulting in Yamaha’s unique “keyboard solfege” process.
